The Painted Sketch
Instructor: Jean Brinton Jaecks
May 31 and June 1; 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Home of the president of St. John’s College
Tuition: $150, includes lunch on both days
This workshop will explore the painted sketch. Artists will work en plein air in the gardens of President Christopher Nelson and Joyce Olin. Artists will sketch and paint the spring gardens, landscape, and Weems Creek. Watercolor sketching can be very portable, with materials and a sketchbook that will fit in a small backpack. The workshop will focus on capturing quick sketches and personal expression. Jaecks will give instruction on watercolor techniques, linear perspective, and expressing light. Lunch will be provided by St. John’s College, and a critique will complete each day. Please dress for the outdoors.
